Local high schools and junior highs help students meet and exceed the highest academic standards. These schools are vital to the community and increase everyone’s property values and quality of life. However, many local schools badly need repairs, safety improvements, technology upgrades and relief from overcrowding. Some school buildings, classrooms and science labs are 40, 50 or even 60 years old.
Measure SA will:
- Ensure local classrooms meet modern fire and safety requirements
- Repair failing, outdated electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilation systems
- Improve classroom, lab and computers technology to help students prepare for college and their careers
- Improve access for students and others with disabilities
- Relieve high school overcrowding by adding a high school in the Castaic area and other classroom facilities where needed
- Only adds $5 to existing, voter-approved tax rates per $100, 000 of assessed value
- Has strict taxpayer protections with independent citizens’ oversight and annual independent audits
- Qualify our schools for state matching funds.
